Last week I heard from two people asking if I was OK. Yes, indeed, I’m fine, I just haven’t been blogging for the past couple of months, though I’ve been doing some posting on LinkedIn, largely about COVID insurance issues.
But the main reason I haven’t been posting lately is that I’ve been busy on some other stuff.
I’m now 6 weeks away from having been in semi-retirement for 5 years. As time goes by, I’m finding that there is less and less “semi” in semi-retirement.
That doesn’t mean I’m abandoning my love for and infatuation with the P&C insurance industry. In fact, I’ve started writing my 7th book and my 3rd insurance book in the past five years. It’s mainly about the history and evolution of CGL property damage exclusions. I’m also beginning the organization of another insurance-related book that deals with insurtech, data analytics, price optimization, credit scoring, and other geeky issues.
Another activity that’s taking a lot of my time is my band The Spyders. During a hiatus the coincides with my blogging vacation, we have been working on new and original material, with the idea of recording an album perhaps in 2022. We also just lost our bassist to an out-of-state move and we start auditioning new bassists this week. Writing original material (insurance and music) and being able to play about 150 classic rock songs is time consuming.
So, that’s a quick update. Thanks for your patience and I will try to get back to a more regular blogging schedule by the first of the year.

Only a few of us very nerdy people would want to read a book about the history of property insurance liability forms.
Cheers! Welcome back.
But a few of them might want to read it into the record in a court case if it supports their coverage position. If you get my drift. Like my other books, I’ll make no money off this, but at least I can set the record straight. Not one agent in 10,000 can explain how the impaired property exclusion works or why. A few more adjusters might be able to.
do you have available the 52 quotes book in paperback?
No, it’s just in ebook format. The idea is that you can carry it around on your phone, tablet or laptop and read a quote and short essay weekly, and refer back to it. Creating a print version is a bigger deal, though I’m considering it.
Such a busy man! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, which I hope you will take time for!
Enjoy the rest of the holiday season too and stay healthy!
Ditto, my dear. As we age, each day becomes increasingly precious.
